William "Bill" Scott Anderson

William “Bill” Scott Anderson, 74, of Caro, passed away peacefully on August 26, 2026. Born on July 16, 1952, Bill was a lifelong resident of Caro and a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, teacher, and friend.

Bill was born to Samuel and Lorraine (Jordan) Anderson, who preceded him in death. He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Janice (Kohn) Anderson; his children, Lori (Ray) Houghteling, Sam Anderson, and Kristy (Wes) Sutherland; and his sisters, Martha Butcher and Donna Meyer. He was a proud grandfather to seven grandsons, Nathan, Nolan, Owen, Oliver, Max, Maverick, and Wilder. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who will miss him dearly.

Bill spent the first half of his career working in the appliance business before following a new path and becoming a teacher. After earning his teaching degree from Saginaw Valley State University, he dedicated 18 years to teaching fifth grade at Schall Elementary in Caro. Teaching gave Bill the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of countless children, and his years in the classroom became an important part of his life and legacy.

A proud Michigan State University alumnus and lifelong fan, Bill rarely missed an opportunity to cheer on the Spartans. His love of college basketball was especially evident during NCAA tournament time, when he would make his tournament picks with his beloved dog, Wrinkles, by his side. Wrinkles got to have a say in the picks, too—Bill would let her choose between treats to help determine his selections. It was a tradition that perfectly captured Bill’s playful personality and love of his dogs.

Throughout his life he enjoyed learning, reading, playing golf later in life, and taking long walks. Some of his happiest times were spent at the family cottage in Caseville, where he enjoyed making memories with the people he loved.

Bill will be remembered for his love of family, his dedication to his students, his loyalty to Michigan State, his love of dogs, and his ability to find enjoyment in the simple things. Most of all, he will be deeply missed by his wife, children, grandchildren, and the many people whose lives he touched throughout his 74 years.

A funeral service for Bill will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 30, 2026, at Ransford Funeral Home – Caro, 205 West Sherman Street, Caro, MI, with Pastor Michele Hile presiding.
