William "Bill" F. Retford

William "Bill" F. Retford, age 76, of Owendale, passed away Tuesday, June 19, 2012 in the comfort of his own home. Bill was born June 3, 1936 in Highland Park, MI to the late Earl and Eva (Draschil) Retford. When Bill was 5 years old the family moved to the farm. On December 26, 1960 Bill married Janet Gettel. Bill was a volunteer fireman for 20 years and chief for 14 years for the Owendale Fire Department. He was a Lions Charter Member for 17 years and a member of the Owendale United Methodist Church where he was a member of the Trustees. Bill enjoyed farming, cooking, snowmobiling in his younger years and spending time with his family.

Bill is the beloved husband of Janet Retford; loving father of John (Gina) Retford of Owendale and Linda (Doug) Detterman of Chelsea, MI; proud grandfather of Adam & Luke Retford and Nicholas & Alexander Detterman; dearest brother of Earl Retford of Idaho, Tom (Earlene) Retford of Ohio, and the late Roger (late Georgia) Retford and the late Audrey; brother-in-law of Jim (Mary) Gettel of Sebewaing; also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation Friday, June 22, 2012 from 2-9pm at Juengel-Mellendorf Funeral Home in Sebewaing.

Funeral service Saturday, June 23, 2012 at Owendale United Methodist Church. Visitation will begin at the Church at 10am until the time of service at 11am.

Burial at Grant Township Cemetery in Gagetown.

Memorial donations may be given to the Owendale United Methodist Church or the Owendale Fire Department.
