William Charles Gage

William “Bill” Charles Gage of Caro, age 84, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, December 7, 2025 while in the comfort of his home. Bill was born on February 22, 1941 in Wilmot, the son of the late Floyd William and Irene Helen (Smith) Gage. On December 28, 1982, Bill married Susan K. Weber in Lucus County, Ohio. Bill was a proud American and dedicated four years of honorable service to his country as a member of the U.S. Navy.

For thirty-two years, Bill worked for General Motors and later for Penske for eight years before retiring. Outside of his professional life, Bill never met a stranger. He was a God-loving Christian and a proud member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Caro. An aviation enthusiast and pilot, he owned both Cessna 150 and 172 airplanes and often took to the skies to admire God’s creations and the beauty of the world around him. His love for NASCAR, hunting, fishing, and riding Harleys was a defining part of who he was, and those who knew him will always remember the joy these passions brought him. He was also an enthusiastic Detroit Lions and Tigers fan, cheering on his teams through every season with loyalty.

Bill cherished his time at home with his family and will be remembered for his love of games like euchre and Mexican dominoes. A devoted animal lover, he cared deeply for all living creatures, especially his beloved cat, Dolly, who will miss him dearly.

His faithful spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew him, and he will be missed and remembered fondly as a Husband, Dad, Grandpa, and “Papa Bill” to his grandson, Isaac.

Left to cherish Bill’s memory are his loving wife, Susan Gage; children, Susan LaPratt and her family, Mearreal Gage and his family, Billy Gage and Becca, and Jenny (Ryan) Miners; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers; Jerry Gage and Bob Gage; and grandchildren, Sarah Klein and Brandon Gage.

In accordance with Bill’s wishes, cremation is to take place and a graveside service will be held at a later date. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorial contributions to St. Paul Lutheran Church of Caro.
