William "Chief" H Chappel

William H. “Chief” Chappel age 79, of Elkton died Sunday morning, March 19, at Covenant Cooper, Saginaw.

He was born September 23, 1937 in Marlette, to the late Simon and Gladys (McAllister) Chappel. While in high school, Bill enlisted in the US Navy and served for twenty years.

On September 13, 1958, he was united in marriage to Marilyn J Forster at the EUB Church in Elkton. They returned to Elkton following his discharge, where he started Chappel Plumbing & Heating, retiring in 2012.

Bill enjoyed being out of doors, playing golf, woodworking, playing cribbage, but most especially spending time with his family.

Surviving are his wife, Marilyn; two children, Julie (Thomas) O’Connor of Ubly and Eric (Tammy) Chappel of Madison, AL; seven grandchildren, Dana (Larry), Mackenzie (Justin), Kyle (Amy), Courtney, Justin, Lydia and Tessa; five great grandchildren,Karlyn, Trace, Clara, Gordon and  Liam; two brothers, Robert and Albert Chappel; special nephew, Jim Chappel and many more nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were nine siblings.

A memorial service will be conducted 12:00 noon Saturday, March 25, at Champagne Funeral Chapel, Elkton, where friends may call from 10 AM until the of services.  Elder Karen Bouverette, will officiate with military honors by the Elkton VFW and interment at Riverside Cemetery, Elkton.
