Bill was born October 25, 1933 in Detroit, the son of the late William Fredrick & Emma Emily (Obarowski) Heida. Believing in the virtues of a parochial education, his mother sent him to a Lutheran school in Detroit until the eighth grade. His high school years were spent at Henry Ford Trade School in Detroit until he was drafted into the U.S. Air Force and was stationed in Arizona. Following his honorable discharge, he enlisted in the Air National Guard and served at Selfridge Air National Guard Base in Harrison Township, Michigan. He retired from the Guard in 1993 as a Senior Master Sergeant, having given over thirty-five years of service. Bill was united in marriage with the former Mavoureen Norris on September 30, 1961 at Zion Lutheran Church in Detroit, and the couple made their home in Trenton until moving north to Mayville to purchase his uncle's farm in 1973. Bill spent eleven years as a journeyman electrician for Ford Motor Company at the Woodhaven Stamping Plant before taking a position as an electrician at General Motors Plant 81 in Flint, retiring in 1993. Bill was a quiet man by nature, and enjoyed the peace of being outdoors. His free time was spent farming, woodworking and mowing his grass. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Caro. Bill is survived by one son and his wife, William C. & Jennifer Heida of Mayville; two grandchildren, Gabrielle and Wm. Tyler Heida of Mayville; sisters- and brother-in-law, Nancy Heida, Joe & Lynn Glumb, Sharon Ray and many nieces and nephews.
