William "Bill" Ignatowski, age 83, of Caseville died Saturday, July 19, at Scheurer Hospital.
He was born November 27, 1919 in Passaic, NJ and moved to the Sebewaing area in his youth with his parents the late Anthony and Anna (Filia) Ignatowski. Bill was the last sibling of ten children in his family.
Bill worked at the Sugar Factory in Sebewaing until getting called to the service. He served in the US Army during WW II and when he returned home he went to Detroit to seek employment. He hired in at Dodge Main in Hamtramck where he retired in 1976, as a line inspector with over 30 years of service. While there he met Anna Sapulich, they married June 18, 1955. They moved to Caseville in 1978.
Bill was a member of St Francis Borgia Catholic Church, Pigeon. He was an avid perch fisherman on the ice and the water, he also always maintained a wonder garden in back of his home.
Surviving are his wife, Anna; his son Richard (Pam) Ignatowski of Caseville; his daughter, Cheryl (Mike) Shank of West Palm Beach, FL. and three grandchildren, Derek, Anna and Emily.
A funeral mass will be conducted 11:00 aM Wednesday, July 23, at St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church, Pigeon with burial in the church cemetery.
Friends may call at the Champagne Funeral Chapel, Caseville from 7 to 9 PM Monday, 2 to 9 PM Tuesday and from 9 to 10:30 AM Wednesday.
