William "Bill" J. Weidner

William "Bill" J. Weidner, age 91, of Sebewaing, passed away peacefully Thursday, July 18, 2024.

Bill was born on January 7, 1933 in Bach, Michigan to the late William E. and Edna V (Kahlman) Weidner. He was united in marriage to Marilyn Nimtz on September 10, 1954 at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Bach, MI, by Rev. Walter Pieper.

Bill was a lifelong member of St. Peter Lutheran Church in Bach, serving as chairman, treasurer, and secretary of the congregation. He also served on the Board of Education and the Youth Board.

Bill was employed at Michigan Sugar Company in Sebewaing for 27 years, retiring in August of 1995. He then worked for Dinkel-Juengel Funeral Home for 16 years. Bill also farmed in the Sebewaing area for many years.

In his younger days, Bill enjoyed deer hunting, fishing, bowling, golf and playing horseshoes. He also enjoyed listening to music, especially polkas. Bill loved to visit with friends, neighbors, and anyone who was willing to lend him an ear. He was a very devoted and loving father and grandpa.

Bill is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Shelly and Bruce Mannikko of Essexville, and grandson, Jacob Scott Mannikko.

Bill was preceded in death by his wife, Marilyn in 2023 and son, Scott William Weidner in 1985.

The memorial service will be Saturday, July 27, 2024, at St. Peter's Lutheran Church (Bach). Visitation will begin at 10am until the time of service at 11am. Pastor Thom Garrison will be officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to St. Peter's Lutheran Church.
