William Robert Kohr, 78 passed peacefully on Sunday July 3rd at Peachtree Christian Hospice in Duluth, Georgia. He is survived by his wife, Mary Jane, three children Jennifer VanBrunt, Jacqueline Marsack, and Robert Kohr and four grandchildren, John VanBrunt, Nick VanBrunt, Kelly Llano, and Katherine Marsack. William is also survived by his brother, John Kohr (Dianne) and his family.
William was born in Detroit, Michigan to Donald Edwin Kohr and Mary Genevieve (Gaynor) Kohr on July 5, 1937. He grew up and attended high school in the Caseville area. He proudly served in the U.S. Army after his marriage to Mary Jane Meyers of Bad Axe, Michigan.
In 1964, he attended the University of Chicago, followed by the University of Wisconsin. William worked at K-Mart Corporation as a tax appraiser and later ran his own business in Warren Michigan.
William and Mary Jane raised their family in Warren, Michigan and retired to Duluth, Georgia. William was an avid sports fan and enjoyed reading, cooking and spending time with his grandchildren.
Donations may be made in his memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
Visitation will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, July 8th, 2016 at the Meyersieck-Bussema Funeral Home, Pigeon, Michigan with a liturgy service at 2:00 p.m. Burial will take place at St. Roch OLPH Catholic Cemetery, Caseville Township.
