William Lawrence

William R. (Bob) Lawrence, age 78, passed away at St. Marys of Michigan hospital in Saginaw on Monday, February 4, 2008 following a brief illness. Bob was born May 21, 1929 in Detroit, the son of the late William Peter Margaret (Marquardt) Lawrence. He married the former Wilma J. (Missie) Suber on February 2, 1951 in Las Cruces, NM while both were serving in the U.S. Army at William Beaumont Army Hospital in Texas. They came to this area in 1970 from Warren, where they opened the Wildwood Restaurant near Cass City. Later they purchased and operated the Oasis Tavern in Caro from 1981 to July of 1999. Bob was a member of the Caro American Legion Post #7 and the Caro Moose Lodge #1049. Bob was preceded in death by his wife Missie on December 21, 2003. He is survived by three children, Brenda Gale Lawrence of Fort Mills, South Carolina, Cynthia Ann Lawrence of Belmont North Carolina, William R. Lisa Ann Lawrence, Jr. of Decker; three grandchildren, William Jacob Lawrence and Alyssa Marie Lawrence both of Decker and Trevor Lawrence of Belmont, North Carolina; one brother, James Lawrence of New Baltimore, MI; one sister, Shirley Erwin of San Francisco, CA and many nieces and nephews.
