William F. McGee, 82, of Elkton, passed away Wednesday, June 12, 2024 at St. Francis Home of Saginaw.
Bill was born November 11, 1941 in Bad Axe to the late D. James and Jean (McIlhargie) McGee. He graduated from Elkton High School. He served in the US Army during the Korean War. He married Shirley Christner on April 28, 1979 at St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church-Berne; she preceded him in death on November 5, 2008. He met Beverly Ellis while wintering in Florida and they were married February 2, 2010 in Florida.
Bill retired from Tower Automotive as an office clerk. He was a past officer at the Elkton Lions Club, golfed in a league at Century Oaks, and bowled at Ty’s Bowling Lounge in Elkton on a league. He was a member of St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church-Berne. He enjoyed Country-Western couples dancing with Shirley, traveling, bicycling and doing puzzles.
Bill is survived by his wife Beverly Ellis of Winnipeg, Manitoba; sister Grace (Larry) McCallum of Port Austin; brother-in-law Richard Deering of Sandusky; his niece and guardian Phyllis (Dan) Baranski of Elkton along with many other nieces and nephews and extended family. He was preceded in death by his brothers Richard, Jerry, Larry, and Chuck.
Funeral services will be at 11:00am Saturday, June 22nd at St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church-Berne with Rev. William Mayhew, pastor of New Salem Lutheran Church in Sebewaing officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery in Elkton. Visitation will be 4-8pm Friday at the Champagne Funeral Chapel and one hour prior to the service Saturday at church.
