William Moore

William W. Moore, age 96, of Venice, Florida, formerly of Trenton, Michigan and Beaumont, Texas, passed away on February 15, 2012. He was born on December 25, 1915 in Caro, Michigan, the son of the late George Henry and Minna (Lowien) Moore. He graduated from Caro High School in 1933 and Alma College in 1940. He went to work for Socony Vacuum Oil Company as a chemist at the Trenton, Michigan refinery. William Moore was united in marriage with Patrice Doherty in Clare on May 30, 1941. He was active in Kiwanis and Junior Achievement during his years in Trenton. The last five years of his job with Mobil Oil were spent in Beaumont, Texas. He retired in 1978 after thirty-seven years with Mobil and moved to Venice, Florida. Patrice passed away in April of 1979. He married Margherita Cozenza on March 26, 1982. She survives him along with her sons, Joesph, John, and Robert Delfausse. He is also survived by one son, George A. & Sarah Moore of Virginia Beach, Virginia; one daughter Carol Higginson of Muskegon; his grandchildren, Rebecca & Chris Nolan of Hemet, California, David & Jody Moore of Hanover, Pennsylvania, Kristin & Jim Dennison of Muskegon, Eric Higginson and Kristen Anderson of Muskegon; his great-grandchildren, Andrew & Monica Goins of Hemet, California, Kaitlyn Benton of Hemet, California, Morgan and Nick Dennison, Nick, Mallory, and Clark Meston of Muskegon, Garrett and Austin Moore of Hanover, Pennsylvania; one great-great-grandchild, Calleigh Goins of Hemet, California. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Jane Moore Kelly and Marjorie Moore Maierle; two brothers, George H. Moore, Jr. and Robert Moore. A celebration of life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 26, 2012 at the Ransford-Collon Funeral Home in Caro. Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
