William “Pat” Miller of Caro, age 82, passed away Tuesday, May 7, 2024 at Covenant Healthcare – Cooper in Saginaw. Pat was born September 12, 1941 in Toledo, Ohio, the son of the late Charles and Mary (Day) Miller.
Throughout his life, Pat's life epitomized the spirit of giving and community, deeply touching the lives of everyone who crossed his path.
Pat began his career in healthcare in 1969. He landed at Caro Community Hospital in 1986 and spent the next twenty-six years at the helm.
He revived and grew the hospital. He devoted time, above and beyond expectation, to be there for the people he served. As the years passed, his employees became family. He quickly became known for the candy bowl on his desk, sharing his love of sweets with any little person that passed his door.
Pat met his beautiful wife, Linda Rogers, at the Flat Rock A&W. He chased her until he caught her and in no time at all, they married and had their four children; Kim (Neal) Kobylik, Pat (Peggy), Chuck (Marsha), and Andy (Robin).
Pat spent the next sixty-two years living a life that most people dream about. He and Linda raised their kids, helping them to chase their dreams. He traveled, volunteered, and sailed into being the grandpa of thirteen; Kristen, Cam, Kelly, Patrick, Katie, Alyssa, Lauren, Al, Madison, Mikayla, Logan, Jesse, and Nicholas.
Pat took being a grandfather to the next level. He started each of them out early on a good diet of chocolate and taught them that at his house, “NO” was not allowed. As the grandkids grew and started families of their own, Pat earned the title of "Biggie" to a passel of great grandchildren. He was always available, generous with his advice, finances, and most importantly, his love. His FIRST love may have been Linda, but they all knew they meant everything to him.
Pat is survived by two brothers, Ben (Sue) Miller and John Miller; sisters-in-law, Geri, Sue, and Joan. The following people beat him to heaven; his parents, Charles and Mary, his brothers, Mike and Gene; and his beloved baby sister, Kris. We are sure that they are having a joyous reunion!
Pat's time on this side of heaven may have come to an end but it is by far, NOT the end of his story. While we are waiting to see him again, we will work hard to pass on everything he taught us. He may no longer be camped on his end of the couch with Sassie and Tucker, but his legacy will live on in our hearts.
