William Raymond Phillips

William Raymond Phillips, 59, of Port Austin, passed away Thursday, July 27, 2023 at his son’s home in Sebewaing.

Bill was born May 26, 1964 in Detroit to the late Donald and Carol (Weiss) Phillips.  He graduated from North Huron High School in 1983.  He worked locally as an electrician.  His passion was music, playing lead guitar with dozens of bands.  In 2002 he produced his own album, Hear My Cry, with his brother-in-law Mike Karle.  He played worship with The River’s Edge Church in Caseville, where he had been baptized twenty years ago.  He enjoyed gaming with his grandchildren.

Bill is survived by his children Dede (William) Schuette of Sebewaing, Raymond (Desirae) of Sebewaing and Makayla (David) Gilbert of Pigeon; grandchildren Montana, Will, Becca, Lilly, and  Elliot; siblings Kim (Greg) Olson of Florida, Donald (Theresa) of Port Austin, Douglas of Florida, and Karen of Florida; the mother of his children Sherrie of Pigeon; and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be at 11:00am Wednesday, August 2nd at the River’s Edge Church with Rev. John Gunden officiating, followed by a meal at the Caseville Family Arena.  Visitation will begin at 10:00am and continue until the time of the service.  Champagne Funeral Chapel is handling the arrangements.
