William Joseph Ross, age 77, of Caseville, died Monday, July 24, 2006 at Courtney Manor in Bad Axe after a recurring battle with cancer.
Bill was born March 22, 1929 in Detroit to the late William H. and Agnes (Sheeran) Ross. He served in the US Navy before working for GM. In 1954 he was hired into the Detroit Police Department, retiring in 1979. Having had a cottage in Caseville since 1971, he moved there permanently in the early 1990's.
He was a member of the Detroit Police Officers Association, Lieutenants and Sergeants Association, a charter member of the Caseville Eagles #3690, and a proud Navy veteran. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and with his many friends at the Caseville Eagles.
Bill is survived by his daughters Diane (Mike) Pokone of Chesterfield Twp., Karen (Al) Sizemore of Centerline, and Susan (Jim) Kuenner of Somerset, MI; grandchildren Jason, Bryan, Shanna, Derek and Ryan; great-grandchildren Luke, Landon, Noah, and Alison.
He was preceded in death by his grandson Adam, brother Robert and sister Virginia Parmalee.
A memorial service will be at 1:00 PM Wednesday at the Champagne Funeral Chapel of Caseville. Visitation will begin at 11:00 AM and continue until the time of the service.
