William “Rusty” Alan Neeb of Akron, age 46, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, May 9, 2026. Rusty was born on March 28, 1980, in Bad Axe, Michigan, to William and Susan (Davis) Neeb and was a 1998 graduate of Frankenmuth High School. After high school, Rusty graduated from Michigan State University with a bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications, Information Studies, and Media. He put degree and sharp wit to work in Information Technology, starting his career at Northern Arizona University in 2007 where he was employed as a Senior Applications Programmer. Rusty felt most himself in nature, hiking and gold panning in the back country of Arizona and dragging his family along with him down every nature trail he could. He enjoyed playing and watching hockey, as well as snowboarding. Rusty was known for his mastery of countless subjects, including astronomy, physics, and electronics. He would hold deep conversations with his family and friends about every topic under the sun and shared his knowledge and sense of humor with everyone that knew him.
Rusty is survived by parents, William and Susan Neeb of Jasper, GA; siblings, Carrie (Scott) Dickson of Milton, GA, Brandon (Sarah) Neeb of Canton, GA, Jakob (Madison) Neeb of Wichita, KS, and Peter Neeb of Scottsdale, AZ; grandmother, Mary Davis; and special uncle, Tim Uhan; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, other family members, and his cherished nieces and nephew who he was thrilled to share Christmas with last year.
Rusty was preceded in death by grandfather, Rollin Davis; grandparents, Ralph and Kay Neeb; and his beloved chinchillas, Stormy, Chip, Arthur, and Merlin.
In accordance with Rusty’s wishes, cremation is to take place. A memorial service celebrating his life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 14, 2026, at Ransford Funeral Home – Caro, 205 West Sherman Street, with Pastor Karen Bouverette presiding. Visitation will take place at the funeral home on Thursday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Northern Arizona University Veteran and Military Services.
Though his passing was unexpected, we take comfort knowing Rusty is at peace in Heaven.
