William Slinglend

William Slinglend, age 79, of Mayville, passed away on Tuesday, May 29, 2007 at St. Marys of Michigan in Saginaw. He was born on September 25, 1927 at Kings Mill in Lapeer County, and lived most of his life in Lapeer and Tuscola Counties. William Slinglend and the former Rosalin Cowell were united in marriage on July 30, 1949 in Lapeer. She preceded him in death on November 8, 1995. Until his retirement, he was employed on numerous farms. He is survived by his children, Pam Hill of Mayville, Wihelmina (Jerry) Shaw of Lapeer, Rhonda Dombrowski of Attica, Albert Slinglend Sr. of Fairgrove, Mary (James Sr.) Burnham of Fairgrove, Rose (Daniel Sr.) Burnham of Mayville, Rick Slinglend of Lapeer; daughter-in-law, Dorothy Brown of Ubly; his grandchildren, Clifford, Gail and Merrry Mae Hill, Karen (Ryan) Stevens, Douglas (Judy) Slinglend, Michael Burnham, Albert Jr. and Randy Slinglend, James Jr. and Renee Burnham, Daniel Jr., Bill and Lesley Burnham, and Danielle Beebe ; ten great-grandsons, seven great-granddaughters, and one great-great-granddaughter. He was preceded in death by an infant son, William Andrew Slinglend; and a son-in-law, Frank Dombrowski in 2006. A memorial service will be held at the Collon Funeral Home in Caro on Thursday, May 31, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. with Dr. Rick Flanders of Juniata Baptist Church officiating. Following cremation, burial will be in Lum. Visitation will be at the Collon Funeral Home on Thursday from 1:00 pm until time of service at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the William Slinglend family discretionary fund, c/o Pam Hill.
