William "Willie" Edward Yonke, age 87, passed away peacefully, Monday, February 25, 2019, at Brian's House in Bay City.
William was born November 28, 1931, in Unionville, to Edward and Anna (Zidler) Yonke. After graduating from high school, he married Nona Lee Black on February 14, 1952. He served in the U.S. Army from 1954-1962. He worked on the family farm and for Newcor in Bay City for 31 years. William was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Unionville, enjoyed camping, boating, deer hunting, wintering in Bradenton, FL, reading western novels and enjoyed the Card Club group. William was a devoted husband, father and grandfather.
William is survived by his 3 children: Bryan (Joyce) Yonke of Goldsboro, NC, Denise (Craig Jennings) Koerber of St. Cloud, MN and Jeff (Fran Devonce) Yonke of Unionville; 5 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
William was preceded in death by his wife, Nona on Dec. 28, 2008.
Visitation will be Thursday, February 28, 2019, at Juengel & Mellendorf Funeral Home, from 4-8pm.
A celebration of William's life will he held Friday, March 1, 2019, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Unionville. Visitation will begin at the church at 10am until the time of service at 11am.
Burial will take place privately at Columbia Township Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be given to St. Paul Lutheran Church or Brian's House.
