Wilma M. Hay, age 83 of Elkton lost her battle with cancer Friday evening, April 3, at the Huron County Medical Care Facility, Bad Axe.
She was born November 29, 1925 in Bad Axe to the late Gustav and Elsie (Zabell) Rook.
On June 29, 1946 she was united in marriage to Frank Schneider in Bad Axe. They owned and operated Schneider's Drug Store on Main St. in Elkton until Feb 10, 1963 when Frank was killed in an auto accident. Wilma sold the store but remained in Elkton to raise her family. On August 17, 1972 she married George Hay at Trinity Lutheran Church, Elkton. He also preceded her in death March 30, 1991.
Wilma was a secretary at the Elkton Clinic from 1963 until 1967 when she went to work at the Pigeon Clinic. In 1978, she began working with her husband, Dr. Hay at his dental practice retiring in 1985.
She was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church and Women of Trinity, and enjoyed crocheting and playing golf.
Surviving are two children, Janice (John) Jones of West Palm Beach, FL and Tim (Renee) Schneider of Elkton; three step children, Heather (Tom) Lemcool of Traverse City, Jeff (Donna ) Hay of Greensburg, IN and Tim (Lydia) Hay of Orlando, FL; four grandchildren, Brian, Kyle, Shelby and Zachary and her sister, Elvera Deering of Elkton.
Preceding her in death was a sister, Ruth Christner and two brothers, Arthur and Marvin Rook.
A memorial service will be conducted 11:00 AM Tuesday, April 7, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Elkton where the family will receive friends after 10:00 AM. Rev. Rodney Schwab, pastor will officiate with burial in Riverside Cemetery, Elkton.
